With the landscape design project in Summit, NJ, Magaletta Design Environments was contacted to do a complete backyard transformation. The homeowners envisioned a multifaceted outdoor living space – a personal retreat for relaxation and a vibrant venue for entertainment. Their goal was to integrate the comforts and functionality of indoor living into the natural beauty of their outdoor environment.
However, the landscape presented unique grading challenges, which were addressed by incorporating massive retaining walls. This solved the grading issues and created multi-level areas throughout the yard, adding an element of architectural interest.
The heart of this landscape design in Summit, NJ is a hardscaped patio area, designed to be both inviting and practical. Here, we installed a state-of-the-art outdoor kitchen, perfect for hosting gatherings or enjoying family meals in the open air.
Adjacent to the kitchen, a cozy sitting area with a huge fireplace became the focal point for relaxing evenings and social interactions. The space was further enhanced with a television, blending modern amenities with the tranquility of outdoor life.
From the patio, you step down to synthetic grass, which provides our clients with an area to play soccer or use for lounging.

We have been contracting with Magaletta Design for our Landscape Projects for over 10 years. Matt has such creative and unique Ideas when it comes to putting a project together from the initial design to the completed project. Matt made our job in Curtis Point, N.J. a work of art, including a remodeled pool, outdoor kitchen, raised patios and fire pit. Last season, Matt completed our backyard project in Chatham, N.J. Since its completion, we have used our backyard more than ever. When we sit in the backyard with family and friends within minutes, we are all relaxing and enjoying the beautiful atmosphere.
